Candidate's Campaign Message

Dear friends and colleagues,

My name is Jennifer Mock, and I write to ask for your vote and support to be your next YLD Secretary. I have been actively and extensively involved with the State Bar of Georgia YLD since 2009. Throughout the years, the YLD and its leadership have instilled confidence, leadership, and a love for the profession in me and young lawyers across the state.

I have taken every opportunity to engage in YLD activities and leadership roles at both state and local levels. I graduated from the YLD Leadership Academy in 2009 and I have served on the Board of Directors for four years. I have also served the YLD as a District Representative, as well as chaired and been involved with several YLD committees. In 2011, I was honored with the YLD’s Award for Outstanding Service to the Bar. At the local level, I have held leadership roles in both the Savannah YLD and the Young Lawyers of Augusta. As a volunteer, I participate in Ask-a-Lawyer day at Georgia Legal Services and judge regional High School Mock Trial competitions.

The leadership experience, the referrals, and a deeper appreciation and passion for our profession are among the countless benefits that I have received from the YLD and its past leaders. The YLD has provided me with mentors and lifelong friends who have given me guidance on everything from starting my own law practice to maintaining that delicate work/life/family balance.

As secretary of the YLD, I look forward to serving the organization and young lawyers across the entire state of Georgia as well as giving my time, efforts, and enthusiasm to ensure that our organization remains one of the best in the country. I truly appreciate your vote and support.

With best regards,
Jennifer Campbell Mock

Main issues facing the State Bar/position:

  • Over the past few years, members of the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia have faced a lackluster job market while juggling burdensome law school debt. This issue limits the young lawyer’s ability to become involved with State Bar activities and to engage in events with local and voluntary bars across the state. As a result, these young lawyers become frustrated and disconcerted with the profession. As the YLD Secretary, I hope to engage more young lawyers across the state in YLD activities, events, and outreach programs that will help create a greater sense of pride and community in the profession.
