Transition Into Law Practice Program (TILPP)

The Transition Into Law Practice Program (“TILPP”), also known as “The Mentoring Program,” is the continuing legal education requirement for lawyers newly admitted to the State Bar of Georgia, unless exempted.  The goal of TILPP is to afford beginning lawyers with meaningful access to experienced lawyers equipped to teach the practical skills, seasoned judgment, and sensitivity to ethical and professionalism values necessary to practice law in a highly competent manner.

Notes:

1. All Beginning Lawyers must attend the Beginning Lawyers Program and an additional 6 CLE hours to satisfy the 12 CLE hours requirement for TILPP.

2. The Beginning Lawyers Program is not required for state prosecutors, solicitors or public defenders.  Each of these groups has its separate mentoring and CLE programs.

3. Group Mentoring events are required for all beginning lawyers who are not paired with a mentor.

4. Group Mentoring events satisfy the mentoring component of TILPP not the CLE component.
