Resignation from Membership

*Bar dues must be current and the member in good standing prior to request for resignation and approval

Bar Rule 1-208(a) states: (a) Resignation while in good standing:  A member of the State Bar in good standing may, under oath, petition the Board of Governors for leave to resign from the State Bar.  Upon acceptance of such petition by the Board of Governors by majority vote, such person shall not practice law in this state nor be entitled to any privileges and benefits accorded to active members of the State Bar in good standing unless such person complies with part (b) or (c) of this Rule.
